It’s a crowded marketplace for tech solutions to construction issues, mostly oriented toward increasing contractor profitability. You are on to something if you can do it from the owner’s side.
The part about the submittal schedule rings very true, as does the lack of planning. Halfway through month 3 of a 4-month schedule, I had a contractor announce he needed 3 more months because of the architect… but he still has not delivered us up a submittal schedule. Affordable housing projects often have contractors that depend on repeat business from a small group of owners who all know each other. Even with an ostensibly “open book” approach we still hear “the sub didn’t bid it that way” and end up with added cost.
